Monday in the Octave of Easter: Continuing the Joy of the Resurrection

April 21, 2025 Monday in the Octave of Easter: Continuing the Joy of the Resurrection Easter is not just a day—it’s a season. On this Monday in the Octave of Easter, we continue to celebrate the victory of Jesus over death, rejoicing in the hope that His Resurrection brings to the world. In the First Reading (Acts 2:14, 22-33), we hear Peter’s powerful proclamation on the day of Pentecost. Filled with the Holy Spirit, Peter boldly tells the people of Israel that Jesus the Nazorean—whom they crucified—has been raised by God. Peter reminds them that even King David foresaw the Resurrection, rejoicing that God would not allow His Holy One to see corruption. Jesus’ triumph over death is the fulfillment of God’s eternal promise. In the Gospel (Matthew 28:8-15), we walk with Mary Magdalene and the other Mary as they leave the empty tomb, overwhelmed with both fear and joy. Along the way, they encounter the risen Christ, who greets them with love and peace. Jesus reassures them, saying, “Do not be afraid,” and sends them to announce the Good News to the disciples. Meanwhile, others plot to cover up the truth—but the power of the Resurrection cannot be hidden. Today reminds us: Christ is alive. Hope is renewed. Our journey of Easter joy has only begun. Let us carry this spirit into every day of the Easter season, living with faith, courage, and trust in the promises of God. Alleluia! He is Risen! The Resurrection of the Lord – Easter Sunday Reflection

April 20, 2025 The Resurrection of the Lord – Easter Sunday Reflection The Greatest Celebration: Christ Is Risen Easter Sunday is the most important day of the Christian faith. Today, we rejoice in the Resurrection of the Lord, celebrating His victory over sin and death. This moment marks the fulfillment of God’s promise and the hope of eternal life for all who believe. First Reading: Witnesses to the Resurrection (Acts 10:34a, 37-43) Peter proclaims the good news:Jesus of Nazareth, anointed with the Holy Spirit, went about doing good and healing. Though He was crucified, God raised Him on the third day. Peter and the chosen witnesses ate and drank with the risen Christ. They are now commissioned to proclaim that forgiveness of sins is offered through His name. Key Point: Jesus’ Resurrection is not a myth — it is testified by eyewitnesses who lived, ate, and walked with the risen Lord. Second Reading: Seek What Is Above (Colossians 3:1-4) Paul urges us to live with our hearts set on the things of heaven. Those raised with Christ are called to focus on the eternal, not the earthly. Our true life is hidden with Christ, and when He appears, we too will appear in glory. Key Point: Our lives are forever changed by the Resurrection. We are called to live for heavenly glory, not earthly distractions. Gospel: The Empty Tomb (John 20:1-9) Mary Magdalene discovers the stone rolled away from the tomb. She runs to tell Peter and John. They find the burial cloths left behind. Though they did not fully understand yet, they saw and believed. Key Point: Faith sometimes begins in wonder and awe before full understanding. The empty tomb is the first sign of the Resurrection. Living the Resurrection Today Today, as we celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord on Easter Sunday, we are called to live as people of hope and joy. Christ is victorious over death. Our sins are forgiven through His sacrifice. Eternal life is now open to us. Let us go forth like Peter and the apostles, proclaiming this good news to the world. Christ is risen! He is truly risen! Holy Saturday – The Easter Vigil: Celebrating the Resurrection and Creation

April 19, 2025 Holy Saturday – The Easter Vigil: Celebrating the Resurrection and Creation The Light Shines in the Darkness Holy Saturday marks the turning point from sorrow to joy. During the Easter Vigil, we remember the power of God’s creation and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The liturgy invites us to journey from the very beginning of creation to the victory of life over death. Reading I: God’s Hand in Creation “In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth…” (Genesis 1:1) The Easter Vigil begins with the beautiful retelling of the creation story from Genesis. We are reminded that God brought order out of chaos, light out of darkness, and life out of emptiness. Each step of creation reveals God’s goodness and love. As we hear the account of the heavens, the earth, the seas, the creatures, and finally humanity, we reflect on how each moment was declared “very good.” Creation was not random — it was purposeful, loving, and filled with hope. The Culmination of the Easter Vigil: The Empty Tomb “Why do you seek the living one among the dead? He is not here, but he has been raised.” (Luke 24:5-6) The Gospel of Luke brings the culmination of our waiting. The women who loved Jesus arrived at the tomb, only to find it empty. In their confusion and fear, angels appeared and proclaimed the astonishing news: Jesus had risen from the dead. Their sorrow turned to amazement, and even though the apostles were hesitant to believe, the seeds of faith and joy were planted. Peter, running to the tomb, symbolizes the heart of every believer eager to witness the promise fulfilled. Reflecting on the Seven Readings of the Vigil The Easter Vigil typically includes seven Old Testament readings before the New Testament and Gospel readings, each recounting key moments of God’s saving work: Creation (Genesis 1:1—2:2) – God’s first act of love. The Sacrifice of Isaac (Genesis 22) – Prefiguring Christ’s own sacrifice. The Exodus from Egypt (Exodus 14) – God’s deliverance from bondage. Prophetic Promises (Isaiah, Baruch, Ezekiel) – Renewal, restoration, and new life. The Resurrection (Luke 24:1-12) – The fulfillment of all promises. Each reading moves the heart from memory to hope, from sorrow to joy. Embracing the Light of Christ The Easter Vigil is rich with symbols: the Paschal candle, the newly blessed fire, the water of baptism, and the proclamation of the Resurrection. Each sign invites us to renew our commitment to Christ, to step out of darkness, and to walk boldly in the light. Holy Saturday teaches us that in our darkest nights, God’s light is already at work. Resurrection is not a distant hope — it begins now. Peace and Reflection Today: Honoring Jesus’ Sacrifice

April 18, 2025 Peace and Reflection Today: Honoring Jesus’ Sacrifice Good Friday of the Lord’s Passion Today, we pause to reflect with solemn hearts on the immeasurable sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Good Friday calls each of us into a space of peace, reflection, and gratitude, as we remember the depth of love poured out on the Cross. The readings today remind us of a Servant who suffered willingly for our sins. In Isaiah 52:13–53:12, we hear of the one who “was pierced for our offenses, crushed for our sins.” Christ bore our infirmities and carried the burden of guilt for all humanity. By His stripes, we are healed. The Gospel of John (18:1–19:42) brings to life the Passion narrative in vivid and moving detail. Jesus, betrayed by a friend, stands alone before human judgment. Despite being condemned unjustly, He remains silent in suffering, fully embracing the mission the Father entrusted to Him: to redeem the world through love, sacrifice, and obedience. From His arrest in the garden to His final words on the Cross — “It is finished” — Christ’s Passion is not just a story of death, but of hope fulfilled. His death opened the way to life for all who believe. A Time for Silence and Gratitude Good Friday is not a day of despair. It is a day of reverent silence and humble gratitude. Jesus’ death is the ultimate act of love — a love that embraces every pain, every sin, and every longing of the human heart. Today invites us to: Reflect on the mystery of God’s love. Honor Christ’s sacrifice through prayer and contemplation. Embrace peace knowing that through His wounds, we are healed. As we venerate the Cross today, let our hearts be filled not with sorrow alone, but with awe at the mercy and grace given freely to us. Honoring the Gift The Passion reminds us that salvation is not earned — it is given. Christ offered Himself fully so that we might be reconciled to God. In this, we find our hope, even as we contemplate the suffering. In every trial, we remember: Jesus has already carried the weight of our burdens. His sacrifice was not only for humanity as a whole — it was personal. It was for you. It was for me. Today, let us honor His sacrifice with peace in our hearts and renewed trust in His promise. “By His stripes, we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) Explore Our Latest Articles Peace and Reflection Today: Honoring Jesus’ Sacrifice April 18, 2025 Latest Articles April 17, 2025 Holy Thursday: The Lord’s Supper and Service On Holy Thursday, we enter into the sacred mystery of the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper. Holy Thursday: The Lord’s Supper and Service

April 17, 2025 Holy Thursday: The Lord’s Supper and Service On Holy Thursday, we enter into the sacred mystery of the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper. It is a night of remembrance, humility, and divine love — the foundation of the New Covenant. The Passover: A Foreshadowing of Salvation In the First Reading from Exodus 12:1-8, 11-14, we hear God’s instructions to Moses and Aaron. The Israelites are to sacrifice a spotless lamb and mark their doorposts with its blood. This act of faith would cause the Lord to “pass over” their homes, sparing them from the devastation brought upon Egypt. This moment foreshadows the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus, the true Lamb of God, who offers His life to save us from sin and death. Jesus Washes the Feet of His Disciples In the Gospel of John 13:1-15, we witness a profound act of humility: Jesus, knowing His time had come, kneels to wash the feet of His disciples. This powerful gesture reveals the heart of His mission — not to be served, but to serve. Peter’s initial resistance reminds us how difficult it can be to accept such radical love. Yet Jesus teaches that true greatness comes through humility and service. “I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.” (John 13:15) Living the Mandate of Love Holy Thursday is not only a memorial of the Last Supper but also a call to action. Christ commands us to love one another as He has loved us — through self-giving, humility, and compassion. In every act of kindness, in every moment of forgiveness, we fulfill the commandment He gave that night. Conclusion As we commemorate the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper, let us remember the depth of God’s love revealed in the Passover and fulfilled in Christ. May we open our hearts to serve others and walk in His example of humility and sacrifice. Facing Betrayal with Courage: Wednesday of Holy Week Reflection

April 16, 2025 Facing Betrayal with Courage: Wednesday of Holy Week Reflection On this Wednesday of Holy Week, we are brought face to face with two powerful images: the faithful servant in Isaiahwho offers himself to suffering with unwavering resolve, and Judas Iscariot, who plots betrayal for thirty pieces of silver. In Isaiah 50, the servant speaks of receiving a “well-trained tongue” to console the weary and of listening each morning for God’s guidance. Despite rejection and abuse, he does not retreat. He sets his face “like flint,” confident in the Lord’s help. This prophetic passage echoes Christ’s own path to the Cross—marked by obedience, suffering, and unwavering trust in the Father. The Gospel of Matthew gives us a stark contrast. As Jesus prepares for Passover with his disciples, he reveals that one of them will betray him. Judas, already having accepted silver from the chief priests, plays innocent—“Surely it is not I, Rabbi?” Jesus’ response is haunting: “You have said so.” This moment calls us to pause. How often do we, like Judas, betray Jesus with our actions, even while trying to keep up appearances? And yet, Jesus still sits at the table with his betrayer. He offers love in the face of betrayal, just as Isaiah’s servant offers himself despite being struck and spat upon. Today’s readings invite us to ask: Are we willing to speak words that rouse the weary? Will we set our faces like flint in times of trial? Will we stay at the table, even when we feel unworthy? As we draw near to the Triduum, let us reflect on the courage of Christ. His betrayal was not a surprise—it was part of his offering. May we remain with Him, faithful and listening, each morning. Tuesday of Holy Week Reflection: Called from the Womb, Betrayed at the Table

April 15, 2025 Tuesday of Holy Week Reflection “The LORD called me from birth, from my mother’s womb he gave me my name.” — Isaiah 49:1 On this Tuesday of Holy Week, we are invited to step into the tension between divine purpose and human failure. Isaiah’s voice resounds from centuries past, proclaiming a servant called by God from the womb — a light meant to reach the ends of the earth. The Gospel then brings us to an upper room, dimly lit with the weight of unspoken dread, where Jesus reveals the betrayal of one of his closest companions. What is striking in these readings is the contrast between clarity and confusion, faith and faltering. Isaiah’s servant is certain of his mission — even when he feels as though he has “toiled in vain,” his strength spent, his hope remains anchored in God’s recompense. He knows his life is part of something bigger: a plan that includes restoration, light, and salvation for all nations. And yet, in the Gospel, we see what happens when human frailty encounters divine glory. Judas chooses betrayal, and Peter — full of zeal — promises loyalty, only to be gently warned by Jesus that he too will falter before the cock crows. Jesus, in the face of betrayal and denial, doesn’t lash out. He loves. He proceeds. He glorifies God. This moment teaches us something essential about discipleship: to be chosen doesn’t mean to be perfect. It means to keep walking toward the light, even through the night. Let this Tuesday be a moment of soul-searching. Where have we promised much, only to fall short? Where do we fear following Christ when it’s difficult? Like Isaiah’s servant, let’s remember: we were called from the womb. And like Peter, we may fall — but we are still called to follow. Monday of Holy Week Reflection – Justice, Light, and Love Poured Out

April 14, 2025 Monday of Holy Week Reflection – Justice, Light, and Love Poured Out As we enter the solemn journey of Holy Week, today’s readings from Isaiah 42 and John 12 reveal the gentle strength of the Servant of the Lord and the intimate foreshadowing of Christ’s burial through Mary’s anointing. “Here is my servant… he shall bring forth justice to the nations.” Isaiah introduces us to the Servant—chosen by God, filled with the Spirit, who brings justice not by force but with quiet resolve. His mission is one of mercy and healing: “A bruised reed he shall not break.” This Servant is a covenant, a light to the nations, sent to open the eyes of the blind and free those in darkness. On this Monday of Holy Week, we begin to see Jesus step fully into this identity. He does not come in grandeur but in humility, calling us to listen, to follow, and to hope. “Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil… and anointed the feet of Jesus.” The Gospel brings us to Bethany, where love is lavish, personal, and misunderstood. Mary’s anointing of Jesus’ feet with expensive oil is a prophetic act of devotion. While Judas objects, Jesus receives her gift as preparation for His burial. This scene reminds us that Holy Week is not just about suffering — it is about love poured out freely, even in the face of betrayal. Turning Away or Turning Toward As the crowds gather, some seek Jesus in faith, while others plot against Him. The tension rises. Today challenges us to choose: Will we, like Mary, pour out our hearts in faith? Or will we, like Judas or the chief priests, allow self-interest to blind us? Let us begin this Holy Week by walking in the light of the Servant. Let justice begin with compassion. Let worship be sincere. Let every act of love be a fragrant offering to the One who gave Himself for us. Palm Sunday Reflection – The Passion of Our Lord and the Servant’s Strength

April 13, 2025 Palm Sunday Reflection – The Passion of Our Lord and the Servant’s Strength Reading I – Isaiah 50:4–7 The prophet Isaiah speaks of a servant of God who has been given a “well-trained tongue” to comfort the weary, and ears opened to hear God’s word each morning. This servant does not resist suffering but accepts humiliation and violence with unshakable trust in the Lord. He sets his face “like flint,” ready to endure suffering because he knows he will not be put to shame. This passage offers a powerful foreshadowing of Christ, who suffers not with bitterness but with purpose. In His Passion, Jesus fulfills this image of the obedient servant — beaten, mocked, and spat upon, yet confident that the Lord God is His help. “I gave my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who plucked my beard.”— Isaiah 50:6 Gospel – Luke 22:14—23:56 The Gospel of Luke presents the entire Passion narrative, beginning with the Last Supper and ending with Jesus’ burial. From the breaking of the bread to the words of forgiveness on the Cross, we are led into the mystery of Christ’s sacrificial love. At the Last Supper, Jesus speaks of His longing to share this meal, instituting the Eucharist as a lasting covenant of love. He knows betrayal is near, yet He continues to love and serve. As Jesus prays in the Garden of Gethsemane, we witness His humanity: “Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me.” Still, He surrenders — “not my will but yours be done.” Even as His disciples sleep and His enemies close in, He remains steadfast. The trial, mockery, and crucifixion follow. Pilate finds Him innocent. Herod mocks Him. The crowd chooses Barabbas. Simon of Cyrene helps carry His Cross. On Calvary, Jesus is crucified between two criminals — one of whom turns to Him in faith. “Today you will be with me in Paradise.”— Luke 23:43 Even in death, Jesus remains the Servant from Isaiah: enduring suffering with courage, compassion, and total trust in God. At the moment of His death, the veil of the temple is torn — heaven opens, and the innocent Lamb is offered for our salvation. A Time to Reflect Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week. We are invited to walk with Christ: In the Last Supper, to receive His gift of love In the Garden, to pray for strength At the Cross, to witness true forgiveness At the tomb, to wait in hope May we remember that Christ set His face like flint not just to endure the Cross — but to save us. United in One Shepherd: Saturday of the Fifth Week of Lent Reflection

April 13, 2025 United in One Shepherd: Saturday of the Fifth Week of Lent Reflection In today’s readings, we encounter the deep yearning of God to gather His people into unity, healing division, and restoring holiness. Through the prophet Ezekiel, God declares a promise of restoration: “I will take the children of Israel from among the nations… and gather them from all sides to bring them back to their land… Never again shall they be divided into two kingdoms.”(Ezekiel 37:21-22) This is not just a political or geographic promise—it is a spiritual renewal. The Lord desires to cleanse His people from sin, idolatry, and separation. He promises to place one prince, one shepherd, over them—David, a foreshadowing of Christ. Through Jesus, God fulfills this everlasting covenant of peace, putting His dwelling among us. One Nation, One Covenant As we prepare for Holy Week, this prophecy takes on deeper meaning. In the Gospel of John, we see the high priest Caiaphas unknowingly proclaim a divine truth: “It is better for you that one man should die instead of the people, so that the whole nation may not perish.”(John 11:50) Though spoken with fear and political motive, these words echo the heart of salvation: Jesus dies not only for Israel but to gather into one the dispersed children of God. His death becomes the doorway to a new covenant—a family united not by race or nation but by grace. Reflection for Today Are there places in our lives where division still exists—between ourselves and others, within our hearts, or in our relationship with God? Let this final Saturday of Lent be a time of returning. God longs to gather us, cleanse us, and dwell with us. Jesus retreats briefly to Ephraim, knowing the cross is near. Let us follow Him—not just to the cross, but to the unity and peace it brings. Prayer Lord God, gather my scattered heart. Cleanse me from what divides me from You and others. Make me part of Your covenant of peace. Let Jesus, my Shepherd, guide me into unity with You and with all Your people. Amen.
